Major-General Ibrahim Basbous is the Director General of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) since 2014. He joined the Lebanese military college in 1974 and graduated as a Lieutenant in 1977. He was promoted to of General in 2005, and then to Major-General in 2013. Major-General Basbous occupied the position of the Commander of the ISF Institute in 2011. He was later appointed as Acting Director General of the ISF in 2013 by the Minister of Interior and Municipalities and then as Director General in 2014.

He participated in international training sessions locally and abroad. The training sessions tackled several technical skills and fields, such as Fighting Against Terrorism, Crimes of Arms Ammunitions and Explosives Trafficking.

Major-General Basbous received several medals from the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, the Director General of the ISF and the Director General of State Security. He received the Medal of Lebanese Merit (1st, 2nd, 3rd degrees), the National Cedar Medals at several levels (Knight, Officer, and Commodore), the Competence Medal, the State Security Medal and the Medal of Honor from the Arab veterans union and others.

Major-General Basbous has a Master’s Degree in IT Administration from CNAM University and a Military diploma in “The Development of the Instructive Program of ISF Officers” from the Police Staff College in Bramshill- UK. He also took part in a training session for police Commissioners at L'Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Police (ENSP) in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont d'Or in France.
