Joe Max Wakim
Information Technology DirectorAUBMCMr. Wakim brings more than two decades of healthcare experience to his role as IT Director at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He works side-by-side on strategic initiatives with healthcare leaders to make Healthcare IT transformations successful.
Joe-Max specialized in healthcare IT implementations well before embarking on the AUBHealth (Epic) clinical transformation journey. He was responsible for leading and supporting the in-house developed solutions. His team serves a community of around 1000 physicians/medical students and more than 3000 employees who use hundreds of applications to provide high quality patient care daily.
Prior to joining the IT team, Joe-Max also served in the Medical Engineering department and led the implementation of the electrophysiology and stereotactic neurosurgery programs and earned the AUB President’s Service Excellence award.
Joe-Max holds his Master’s in ‘Engineering with Physical Science in Medicine (Biomedical Engineering) from Imperial College, London, England, and a PG Diploma in HealthCare Informatics (HCI) from the University of Wales Swansea, Wales. He is also a Certified Professional in Health Information Systems by HIMSS and a Certified Health CIO by CHIME.
